Getting Ready for Spring 2010, Part II

I spent the day on Sunday taking 20 cuttings of geraniums and about 10 cuttings of impatiens. I dipped them in the root hormone and then put them in perlite to root. All of the cuttings are now down in my basement area (see the claw foot tub and light installs in the last posting). I am giving them about 13 hours of light.
Check out this site at the University of Vermont extension which has plenty of information on cuttings.
I’ve noticed that the impatiens have wilted, but the stalks themselves still seem hardy. The geraniums seem to be doing fine. I am told that marigolds can also be rooted.
I cannot wait to start seeds.
